 |
| Brainstorming and research on the concept of a self-assembling shell as applied to music. |

::bigger:: |
Here's what I've done this week:
I talked to Tetsu about the idea. He suggested using acoustic strings, to create a string instrument in the shape of a shell. We decided that a large (man-sized) instrument would be unworkable unless I used thick metal pipes to hold the strings in place.
|
| First, I don't have the construction skills to build such a thing out of metal, and second, building a string instrument was never my intention. I decided on creating a resonant sound built from actual room ambience from the beginning. Tetsu was very helpful, though, because he put the (obvious, in retrospect) idea in my mind of making the physical appearance of the instrument resemble a sea-creature's shell. |
